Vaarweg Network Data Service - navigability
Description
Vaarweg Netwerk Data Service (VNDS) - navigability is the selection of navigability of the fairway information services (FIS). In FIS-VNDS a navigability class has been assigned for each port, fairway or part thereof. The classification for those classes is based on the dimensions of standard ships and pusher craft. The Conference of European Ministers of Transport (CEMT) presented a classification for navigability in 1992. A class 0 has been added to classes I to VII for the Netherlands, for waterways smaller than class I. Class VII has not been included: pushing with nine boxes does not occur in the Netherlands. Classes are based on the following: - length and width of the vessel (the largest pusher). - width and depth of the fairway. - structures (shock length, width, threshold depth and height of lifting doors and/or fixed bridges). - any (sharp) bends in the waterway. The following classes shall be recognised: 0 Small craft and recreational craft I Spitz II Kempenaar III Dortmund - Emskanaalschip IV Rijn - Hernekanaalschip, Eenbaksduwstel Va Groot Rijnschip, Eenbaksduwstel Vb Tweebaksduwstel (long formation) VIa Tweebaksduwstel (wide formation) VIb Vierbaksduwstel VIc Zesbaksduwstel
