Development of the Waste Prevention Programme 2023.
Description
Waste prevention is one of the top priorities of waste policy in the European Union with economic and environmental benefits. It is becoming increasingly important not only in environmental policy, but also in industrial and raw materials policy. The EU Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC) requires Member States to draw up a waste prevention programme. The objectives and measures contained therein are designed to decouple economic growth from the environmental impact of waste generation. This report describes the development and preparation of the Waste Prevention Programme 2022 and includes the review of the state of implementation of the previous Waste Prevention Programme 2017 and its measures, as well as the development of newly defined measures and indicators to review them.
