Climate protection forest
Description
Related forest areas near urban areas can have a favourable influence on the climate in urban areas and open spaces through large-scale air exchange (regional climate protection forest). Such regional climate protection forests are designated on the basis of special climate reports. Climate protection forest also protects populated areas, spa, healing and leisure facilities as well as recreational areas, agricultural land and special crops from cold air damage, adverse wind effects, and creates compensation for temperature and humidity extremes (local climate protection forest).
