Germany - Passau - Flood situation on 3 June 2013 - Area affected, TK - P01

Description

Continued rainfall in recent days has led to heavy flooding in large parts of Germany. The local forces are supported by the Federal Police, the Bundeswehr and the Technische Hilfswerk. Historical peaks of some water levels have already been reached on the Danube. At 12.89 m, the highest level since 1501 was measured in Passau on 3 June 2013. A further increase is to be expected, as the inflows transport further water masses in the direction of Passau. The water areas shown in the map were derived from a TerraSAR-X scene taken on 3 June 2013 at 19:08 CET. A topographic map serves as a background image. Please note that the flood situation in urban areas, under vegetation cover and in areas with steep gradients may not be fully captured due to radar geometry. This product was created within the framework contract “ZKI-DE” between the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR).
