Terrain database

Description

The National Land Survey of Finland’s terrain database is a dataset covering the whole of Finland. Its main target groups are the transport network, buildings and structures, administrative borders, nomenclature, land use, water and elevation. In updating the terrain database, aerial photographs, bowling data and materials produced by other data producers are utilised. The update will work closely with municipalities. The accuracy of the classification of sites will also be improved through field inspections. The terrain database is used for the manufacture of other map products and for various optimisations. The product is open material.
