Relative area of urban land cover in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area
Description
A dataset is a raster level where the attribute information is the relative area of urban land cover within a defined area around each pixel. There are raster levels for areas of different sizes, where the calculation area has a radius of 100 m, 200 m, 300 m, 400 m, 500 m, 700 m and 1000 m. A value of 0 means that there is no urban land cover at all, and a value of 1 means that the urban land cover is 100% of the area, e.g. within a radius of five hundred metres. The data was produced from CORINE Land Cover 2018 data by reclassifying the original data based on the results of correlation analyses between air temperature and different land cover forms. The resolution of the material has been generalized from the original 20 metres to 100 metres.
The data was produced as part of the HERCULES project/consortium funded by the Academy of Finland's Climate Change and Health (CLIHE) research programme in 2020–2023.
