Soil sensitivity: Sensitivity to drying, dehydration

Description

Changes in groundwater levels can lead to irreversible damage to soils and ecosystems. Soils whose functions depend on a high groundwater level, e.g. moors, wet and auengleye, as well as groundwater-affected soils, e.g. gleye and vergleyte soils, are particularly sensitive to groundwater subsidence. Soils with wet and extremely moist properties are filtered from the assessments of the soil component function habitat and livelihood and presented as soils with ‘sensitivity to drainage’.
