Thermal conductivity Soil

Description

The precise knowledge of the soil and substrate properties as well as the hydrological conditions at one site allows an optimized dimensioning of geothermal collector systems. An important parameter here is the thermal conductivity in W/(m*K), which significantly reflects the geothermal potential. The thermal conductivity of a soil depends on the geological substrate and the hydrological conditions, such as near-surface groundwater. The expected average thermal conductivity values up to 2 m depth at a site can be found in the geothermal potential map – Soil Thermal Conductivity. The range of values is very low (1.8 – 2.0). The dataset provides a basis for large-scale considerations and does not replace the carrying out of detailed investigations.
