Soil air capacity (BÜK200)
Description
Air content of soil (vol.-%) at field capacity. Pores with equivalent diameter = 50 µm, in which the water can move according to gravity. Air capacity is thus understood as the pore space that is filled with air at field capacity. It is a measure of the supply of oxygen to plant roots. The information refers to one metre of profile power. For soils where skeletons or solid rocks are at a lower depth, the data refer to the thickness of the soluum.

low (2 to < 5 vol.-%),
average (5 to < 13 % by volume),
high (13 to < 26 % vol.),
very high (26 < vol.-%).
