Protection intensity: up.
Nature reserves are legally binding areas in which special protection of nature and landscape in its entirety or in individual parts is required.
1. For the conservation, development or restoration of habitats, biotopes or communities of certain species of wild fauna and flora,
2. for scientific, natural history or cultural reasons, or
3. because of their rarity, peculiarity or outstanding beauty.
Prescribed nature reserves (NSG) in the district of Göttingen are:
NSG "Bachtäler im Kaufunger Wald" as the core zone for the implementation of part of the eponymous Habitats Area No. 143;
NSG "Butterberg and Hopfenbusch bei Bartolfelde" as implementation of the Habitats Area No. 405 "Butterberg/Hopfenbusch";
NSG "Ballertasche" as implementation of the FFH area of the same name No. 141;
NSG "Finnenbruch, Großes Butterloch und Floating Island";
NSG "Gypsum karst area near Bad Sachsa";
NSG "Gypsum karst landscape near Ührde";
NSG "Gypsum karst landscape Hainholz" as implementation of FFH area No. 133 "Gypsum karst area near Osterode";
NSG "Göttinger Wald" as implementation of the eponymous FFH area No. 138;
NSG "Großer Leinebusch";
NSG Oderaue";
NSG "Ossenberg-Fehrenbusch";
NSG "Rhumeaue, Ellerniederung, Schmalau and Thiershäuser Teiche" as implementation of the Habitats Area No. 134 "Sieber, Oder, Rhume";
NSG "Seeanger, Retlake, Suhletal" as implementation of the FFH area of the same name No. 139 and part of the bird protection area V 19;
NSG "Seeburger See" as implementation of the eponymous FFH area No. 140 and part of the bird protection area V 19;
NSG "Siebertal";
NSG "Staufenberg";
NSG "Steinberg bei Scharzfeld";
NSG "Devil Baths";

NSG "Weper, Gladeberg and Aschenburg" as the core zone for the implementation of part of the eponymous Habitats Area No. 132;

For the NSGs, which serve the implementation of Habitats Areas, habitat types (LRT), conservation statuses (EHZ) and reproductive and resting sites (F+R) have been defined in part, which are part of the respective protection purpose.
