Nature network Netherlands – nature reserves (Omgevings Ordinance)
Description
This file contains NNN natural areas as laid down in the Environmental Ordinance of the Province of Groningen. In this Environmental Ordinance, we have established the limits and included rules for the protection of the Natuurnetwerk Nederland (NNN). NNN natural areas are existing nature reserves or still to be developed, which are within the boundary of the Nature Network. Some of the areas to be developed are now farmland. Our policy is aimed at purchasing these agricultural land on a voluntary basis or by converting them into nature with subsidy for change in function and then refurbishing them. This policy has been further elaborated in the Land Policy Note of the Province of Groningen. According to plans, the Groningen part of the Nature Network was completed in 2027, with which a total of 9,800 hectares of new nature will be developed.
