Drinking water protection areas
Description
Presentation of the water protection areas that are currently legally established. The establishment of water protection areas is carried out on the basis of Section 51 of the Water Resources Act with the aim of protecting waters from adverse effects in the interest of the current or future public water supply, enriching groundwater, or avoiding the harmful discharge of rainwater as well as the run-off and entry of soil components, fertilisers or plant protection products into waters. The Landratsamt Nordsachsen is responsible for defining the water protection areas as the Lower Water Authority in accordance with § 46 SächsWG. The individual water protection areas are divided into protected zones I, II and III and III A and III B respectively.
