Maps of the Southwest Finland Senate
Description
Topographic maps made by Russian military authorities, which have been photographed and corrected. The data mainly covers the Salo sub-region. The original survey took place between 1886 and 1914, mainly for military purposes. The projection of the map was a polyedric projection (multidirectional projection) and a scale of 1:21 000 (a so-called half-mile map, where one inch on the map equals half a mile in the terrain, i.e. 533 m). The original Senate maps have been scanned by the Southwest Finland Environment Centre and corrected to the unified coordinate system partly by the Southwest Finland Environment Centre and partly by the Regional Council of Southwest Finland.
