Description
The air capacity of the floor up to 100 cm tread depth is the pore space that is provided with air at field capacity with a defined suction voltage of pF > 1,8. It is a measure of oxygen supply to the plant roots. The classification is based on KA5, p. 349, Table 74.
For soils with a skeleton or solid rock at a lower depth, the information refers to the depth of the purée.
Classification:
very low < 2 % by volume
low 2 to < 5 % by volume
mean 5 to < 13 % by volume
high 13 to < 26 % vol.
very high > = 26 % vol.
