Salinisation in the near-surface water pipe of the marshes and lowlands
Description
Groundwater salinification affects the condition of the shallow water pipes in large areas of the Schleswig-Holstein west coast. This is due to natural processes, in particular the land ingress of sea water and the rise of salty deep waters due to hydraulic pressure relief. The map shows the predominantly salted areas (red) and the predominantly non-salted areas (blue) in the marshes and lowlands of the west coast.
