Reduction potential in the agricultural sector
Description
In this report, the Federal Environment Agency presents the potential of measures to reduce ammonia emissions in agriculture. These measures concern feeding and animal husbandry, storage and application of manure and application of mineral fertilisers for the four relevant farm types: Cattle farms (feed farms), pig and poultry processing farms and market fruit farms (arable farming). The measures were quantified for each measure individually. In addition to the theoretical (maximum possible) reduction potentials, the technical (practically possible) reduction potentials were also calculated. The results show that the measures at the beginning and at the end of the nitrogen chain (feeding and application) have the greatest emission reduction potential. The report complements REP-0569 from 2016.
