Environmental Ordinance, Nature Network Brabant – ecological connection zone
Description
Ecological connecting zones are areas or structures that should enable connection, migration and exchange of species between natural areas. They are often long stretched wet and/or dry landscape elements along dikes, watercourses, roads, rail and waterways. Search areas for ecological connecting zones are included in the Environmental Regulation. The Nature Network-Brabant-evz file indicatively indicates the route that the connection between nature reserve should follow and thus has the nature of a search area. The designation of the evz itself takes place by the municipality in an environmental plan.
Until the evz is actually realised, a strip (buffer) must be included in the environmental plan in accordance with the Environmental Ordinance with rules to prevent the realisation of an evz from being made more difficult. After realisation and the inclusion of a suitable nature destination in the environmental plan, the landscape elements that make up the evz in accordance with the nature destination will be included in the Nature Network Brabant. When a certain route is fully completed, the indicative strip of Natuur Netwerk Brabant-ecological connection zone disappears.
