Historical map: Carte de la Souabe (1821)
Description
The dataset contains an excerpt from the 17 map sheets of the "Carte de la Souabe" on a scale of 1:100'00. The excerpt runs along the Rhine from Kaiseraugst to Schaffhausen. In the south, the map ends in the Aargau and in the north near Freiburg (D). The map was created by the French military between 1818 and 1821. In the Genius Corps of the French Army there were special cartographic corps. A total of 47 engineers were involved in the surveying of the "Carte de la Souabe". The map is black and white and contains hatching instead of contour lines. It was scanned and georeferenced by the AGIS coordination.
