Description
The heavy rain hazard map is used to identify areas that may be at risk in heavy rain. On the basis of the map, an initial assessment of possible flood risks can thus be made. The heavy rain hazard maps are based on three assumed intensity levels of heavy rain events of one hour duration each and represent the resulting maximum flooding heights in the urban area during the event. The maps show a worst-case situation for the respective scenario with the assumption that the canals and soils are already ‘full’ and can no longer absorb water in this short period of time.
