Air quality measurements and meteorological measurements.
Description
The Federal Environment Agency operates seven air quality monitoring centres where background pollution, long-distance shipments of air pollutants and trends in air quality are recorded. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2017 and the development of the last 25 years. The limit values for particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide as well as for heavy metals and benzo(a)pyrene were complied with at all measuring points. The target value for ozone for the protection of human health was exceeded in Enzenkirchen, Illmitz, Pillersdorf, at Zöbelboden and Sonnblick, the one for the protection of vegetation in Illmitz, Pillersdorf and Sonnblick. The information threshold was exceeded in Illmitz and Vorhegg. Exposure to particulate matter, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide was below the long-term average in 2017.
