Sokka materials (current state and need to rehabilitate the grave pits 2009)
Description
Digitised wells of the current status and need for remediation of land extraction sites located in groundwater areas. The data have been combined with the well delimitations of the Pori sub-region, with partly different classifications. After-care classifications have been used, which mainly describes the well landscape and the need for remediation classification, which describes the risk to groundwater posed by the activities of the well area. The material was produced in the Sokka project in cooperation between the Regional Council of Southwest Finland and the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, and the report is available on the ELY Centre’s website. After-treatment categories: class 1 after-care, grade 2 mainly after-care, 3 partly after-care, 4 unaddressed, 5 on-going. Refurbishment Needs Classification: class 0 very high, 1 large, urgent, 2 moderate, 3 minor, 4 according to soil permit.
The material has been digitised from aerial photographs and basic maps. The demarcation of the wells has been secured during field visits in 2008-2009. The data for the Pori sub-region were made in 2008 and there are minor differences in the classification of the data with the classification of the rest of Southwest Finland. The soil permit data has been collected from the environmental administration’s Notto and Motto databases. The starting data were the terrain database, the basic map, the aerial photographs of the environmental administration, the Motto and Notto databases, and SYKE’s groundwater data. The data provides an overview of the state and need for remediation of soil extraction sites located in groundwater areas. The data can be used to prioritise wells and groundwater areas requiring restoration more urgently. The material can be used to support the granting of land permits and their monitoring. The data covers all groundwater areas in southwestern Finland that have or have been extracted from soils. For the Pori sub-region, land extraction areas located outside groundwater areas have also been mapped.
