Conversion of the Austrian nitrogen and phosphorus balance of agriculture to Eurostat standards.
Description
This report presents the national gross nitrogen budget (GNB) including the net nitrogen balance and the phosphorus budget (PB) in accordance with the provisions of the EUROSTAT/OECD Manual for the years 2000 to 2017. The data bases have been updated and compared with those of the greenhouse gas inventory, agriculture sector. The results show that the net nitrogen surplus per hectare of agricultural land tends to decline slightly over the period 2000-2017, while the gross nitrogen surplus is stable to slightly increasing. The latter has stabilised over the last five years (2013-2017) around the annual average of around 40 kg N/ha/year. The phosphorus surplus over the last five years (2013-2017) averages 0.6 kg P/ha/year and tends to decrease over the years 2000-2017.
