Water quality organic - Ecotopen Rijkswateren - planes second cycle (RWS)
Description
From the Meuse, the Rhine branches-East, the Rhine-Maas estuary, the Volkerak-Zoommeer and the IJsselmeer area, an ecotope map is supplied every 6 years. An ecotope map is built up by combining several layers of information, such as a vegetation structure map, a water depth map, a flood duration map, etc. The vegetation structure map is the most important layer. This map is produced using aerial photographs on a scale of 1:10,000. An ecotope is defined as a spatially delimitable ecological unit, the composition and development of which are determined by abiotic, biotic and anthropogenic aspects taken together.
The 2nd cycle mappings were carried out in the period from 2004 to 2006 (year of photo flights).
