Storage capacity CO2 gas fields
Description
The map shows the estimated CO2 capacity of the gas fields. The amount of CO2 that can be stored in a field depends on a large number of parameters including the volume of the field, depth, porosity, planned final pressure, etc. A detailed determination of the expected storage capacity can only be made based on a specific supply and demand profile. In order to be able to make a reasonable estimate of the potential storage capacity of a gas field, a rule of thumb is calculated here: for every billion m³ of natural gas produced, 2.5 million tonnes of CO2 can be stored in a gas field.
