Test backdrop II - locations with climate protection potential to be tested
Description
Test backdrop II is one of three test backdrops in which (in ascending order) the presence of peatland biotope types and the soil properties of a peat layer relevant to climate protection, i.e. a theoretical greenhouse gas reduction potential in rewetting, should be checked.The areas identified here are identified by the BHK50 as carbon-rich soils with significance for climate protection. However, the surveys of the FFH basic survey on biotope types in FFH areas and in selected areas of the national biotope mapping outside the FFH areas cannot confirm this unequivocally. Due to their biotope type according to the mapping key for biotope types in Lower Saxony (von Drachenfels, 2021), they point either to mineral sites or to anthropogenic biotopes that are so overstamped that an actual climate protection function (i.e. rewetability with greenhouse gas mitigation potential) is no longer possible.
