WINDForest - Wind data using a wind measuring drone

Description

This data offer includes three wind measurements with the wind measuring drone from the project partner OPTOLUTION Messtechnik GmbH in the complex terrain near Freiburg. The measurements were collected as part of the WINDForest project and are used to validate flow simulations. Parameters included: Date, time, GPS position of the drone, wind speed in horizontal direction (wind MAG in m/s), wind speed in vertical direction (wind EH in m/s), wind direction and temperature The following measurement configurations were carried out: Measurement 1 – point measurements 140 m and 120 m • Start at an altitude of approx. 820 m • Point measurements at 140 m (relative) • Point measurement at 100 m (correction of the height after drifting away from the drone after about 2/3 of the time) • Main wind direction 225° • Flight time total about 52 minutes (3113 s) Measurement 2 – 100 m point measurements • Start at an altitude of approx. 820 m with drift • Main wind direction 220° • Flight time at altitude 100 m total about 25 minutes (1500 s) Measurement 3 – Flight path meandering to 140/120/100 m • Meanders at 140 m, 120 m and 100 m each 200 m horizontally • Start at an altitude of approx. 820 m with drift (location B) • Main wind direction 225° • Flight time total about 48 minutes (2929 s)
