Description

Unemployed persons in Espoo and unemployment rate by gender as of 31 December 2000. Unemployed persons are defined on the basis of the Ministry of Labour's register of jobseekers. The unemployment rate in the region is the percentage of the unemployed in the labour force. The population is divided into those in the labour force and those outside the labour force on the basis of the main activity. These groups can be further subdivided into sub-groups. The labour force includes both the employed and the unemployed. The classification is based on information on the person's activities during the last week of the year. The information on the main activity is based on data from different registers. Within the labour force, the reasoning of the unemployed has been done before the reasoning of the employed. Cryptographic criteria: All unemployment data are encrypted in the statistics for regions with a population of less than 100 persons. In addition, unemployment data for regions with fewer than 5 unemployed (both genders or men/women) are encrypted.
