Fruit growing; harvest and cultivation area apples and pears
Description
This table contains data on the Dutch harvest of apples and pears and the corresponding cultivation areas of apple and pear trees. The data are broken down by apple and pear varieties.
Until 2017, the cultivation areas and harvest figures were determined annually from the results of the Oogstraming Appels en Peen survey and the results from a panel of experts from the fruit sector.
There has been no survey since 2018. In the spring, the cultivation areas of apple and pear trees in the Netherlands are determined from the annual agricultural census, broken down by variety and region. Based on this information, cultivation consultancy Delphy estimates the harvest of apples and pears. The cultivation areas and the results of Delphy are then discussed in a panel of experts. This panel is organized by the GroentenFruit Huis. In the autumn, Delphy performs a harvest naming. The cultivation areas from the agricultural census will be given definitive status at the end of March of the following year.

When will there be new figures?
Figures are published at three points in the year. The summer forecast with provisional figures for the current year will be published in July. These will be updated in October after the nameting of Delphy. In March of the following year, the figures will become definitive.
