Description
Locations of the existing bioenergy plants in the district of Göttingen.
These are plants for the production of renewable energies (biogas) from biomass through fermentation.
Biogas is an important and versatile form of bioenergy from agriculture. The new plants use almost exclusively renewable raw materials (NaWaRo) such as corn, cereals, millet, sugar beet, sunflowers and partial growth of grassland with or without manure.
Biogas is currently mainly produced in a decentralised manner and used as an electricity and heat supplier. Due to this decentralization of the plants, which is due to the fact that the primary raw material for biogas production such as manure or energy crops can usually not be transported over long distances due to the low energy density for economic reasons, the integration of good heat utilisation concepts is not always possible.
