Environmental information for the characterization of the fire of Almonaster La Real 2020
Description
Obtaining a series of products for the generation of environmental information before and after the fire started on 27/08/2020 affecting the municipalities of Almonaster la Real, El Campillo, Zalamea la Real and La Zarza-Perrunal. In this sense, the delimitation of the fire is generated on the satellite images PLEIADES 1A and 1B (resolution 0.5 m) of 4-5/09/2020.
From the images of the SENTINEL 2A satellite (19/08/2020 and 03/09/2020) the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is calculated, which based on the contrast between the red and near-infrared bands of the spectrum, highlights the vegetation coverage and its vigor over large areas, and the calcination index (NBR-Normalized Burn Ratio) that compares the near-infrared and short-wave infrared bands 2 to determine the severity of calcination.
Geographic vector information is generated referring to infrastructures, vegetation, Habitat of Community Interest and land occupation, necessary for prior knowledge and analysis of the burned area. The starting source has been mainly the Information System on the Natural Heritage of Andalusia (SIPNA)
