Accumulation of pressures that generate the entry of marine litter from the sea in the Levantino-Balear Demarcation (EM LEVA PRE Marine Garbage)
Description
Pressures related to fishing and maritime traffic are considered as sources of introduction of marine litter from the sea. No information is available on other activities.
The areas with the highest density of fishing vessels (i.e. the areas with the highest number of VMS records) are defined, as well as the areas with the highest density of merchant vessels (AIS), adding the signals received from both sources on each cell (transforming the VMS data to signals emitted every 5 minutes, to make them comparable with the AIS).
