Main structure: Historic waterways in South Holland
Description
Historical waterways are in principle natural watercourses such as rivers between gully deposits, creeks in the clay landscape and peat streams in the peat area. They are original nature courses, dug canals or diverted river courses. Priority historical waterways are waterways that have been the main connection between cities for centuries. They were important as a public transport network, for trade and as a means of defence.
