Digital terrain model (DGM1)
Description
The Digital Terrain Model (DGM) is a follow-up product from the 3D measurement data. It describes the terrain surface, the relief of the earth, through the spatial coordinates of a representative set of terrain points to the survey period. Height information is stored independently of scale and in accordance with data processing.
Based on the laser scanning point clouds from Airborne Laserscaning (ALS) available throughout Lower Saxony since 2019, which have a geometric resolution of at least 4 points/m2, a high-precision DGM in 1 x 1 km2 tiles is provided. The grid width is 1m (DGM1) and the grid element position is in the center at 0.5 m positions (= pixel center). The height accuracy of the DGM1 is ≤15 cm for flat to slightly inclined open terrain and ≤ 30 cm for steeply inclined terrain with dense vegetation. These were determined by a Delaunay triangulation from the classified ALS point cloud. The resulting Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF (COG) is encoded in 32 bit with float values and was compressed using the LZW method. Empty pixels (NoData) contain the value -9999.
