Flood risk area - coastal floods (§§ 73, 74 WHG)
Description
For all scenarios of flood risk areas defined in Schleswig-Holstein, the flood hazard maps (HWGK) represent the risk of a flood event due to coastal flooding as a combination of probability of occurrence and intensity.
The illustration includes the spatial extent of the flooding and the water depth by intersection with the digital terrain model of Schleswig-Holstein (DGM1).
In addition, we ask you to note the following information for the explanation of the card contents:
The flood hazard maps referred to in Article 6(3) of the HWRL cover the geographical areas that could be flooded in the following scenarios.
a)
Low probability floods (HW200) or extreme event scenarios
b)
Medium Probability Flood (HW100)
c)
High probability flooding (HW20).
HW200: Storm surge with a recurrence interval of 200 years.
HW100: Storm surge with a return interval of 100 years.
HW20: Storm surge with a return interval of 20 years.
The flood hazard maps shall indicate for each scenario (paragraph 4):
a)
Extent of flooding
b)
Water depth or, where appropriate, water level.
For already sufficiently protected coastal areas (paragraph 6), the preparation of flood hazard maps is limited to an extreme scenario.
In addition, we ask you to note the following information for the explanation of the card contents:
Flood risk maps shall be drawn up on the basis of the flood hazard maps for the same flood scenarios and coastal flood risk areas. They describe the adverse effects caused by floods (significance criteria). Article 6(5) of the HWRL sets out the necessary information:
a)
the number of inhabitants potentially affected;
b)
the nature of the economic activities in the potentially affected area;
c)
Installations covered by Directive 2010/75/EU on industrial emissions (IED) and potentially affected protected zones referred to in points 1(i), 1(iii) and 1(v) of Annex IV to Directive 2000/60/EC
