HK 50 – Hydrogeological Map of North Rhine-Westphalia 1:50.000
Description
The map of the HK 50 depicts the distribution, location and rock characteristics of the aquifers and ladders found in the leaf area. In the main maps looser and solid rocks are assigned different permeability classes according to their hydraulic properties, in the looser rock the width of the usable groundwater space is also shown. The maps also contain information on the location of springs, wells, groundwater monitoring stations and potential groundwater hazards (excavations, deposits). Cutting series give an impression about the storage, width and hydraulic connections of the hydrogeological units. Secondary maps, e.g. a geological overview, representations regarding the quaternary base, the permeability of the surface layers, groundwater analyses or the composition of superimposed top layers and their protective function, as well as the risk of material inputs into the groundwater, are partially included. In some cases, brief explanations with a list of fonts are included in the map sheets, which focus on the contents and representation of the maps as well as on groundwater management and clarity of the layers present in the leaf area.
