GÜK 200 - Geological overview map of the Federal Republic of Germany: North Rhine-Westphalia 1:200,000
Description
More than 90% of the land area is covered by the eight North Rhine-Westphalian sheets of this map book. On each map sheet, on an area of about 8,000 square kilometers, the rock sequences, which can be distinguished by age and composition, are shown to scale and described in a legend. Overlays of younger over older rocks are partially taken into account. The mountain construction with its tectonic elements is also reproduced as detailed as possible on the map. In combination with the vertical depth section, the thickness of the layers in the subsurface and the geometry of folds and faults are illustrated. The main basis for processing was the geological map of North Rhine-Westphalia 1:100,000, taking into account current mapping results. The GÜK 200 gives a good overview of the large-regional distribution of the different rock strata. The map is published by the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), Hanover, in cooperation with the Geological Services of the Federal Republic of Germany. The North Rhine-Westphalian leaves can be ordered folded from the Geological Service NRW. Resellers please contact the GeoCenter, Stuttgart, which distributes all published map sheets.
