BUEK250N: plant-available soil water
Description
Based on the use-differentiated soil survey map in scale 1:250.000, the amount of plant-available soil water (WPFL) is mapped in 7 classes.
The amount of plant-available soil water results from the sum of usable field capacity in the effective root space (nFKWe) and the water that reaches the effective root space through capillary ascent (KA) from the groundwater. The unit of measurement is mm. For the calculation of capillary ascent, climate data from the period 2001 to 2020 are used. The usage differentiation is based on CORINE-Land Cover (CLC5_2018). The land use classes listed there were aggregated into 5 classes (arable land, grassland, forest, wasteland and settlement/transport).
The amount of plant-available soil water depends on a variety of factors. These include soil type, storage density, humus content, and use.
