Rock chemistry (display service)
Description
The viewing service Rock Chemistry contains information about different elements in rock samples from Sweden. Sampling has mainly taken place in connection with regular fieldwork at SGU. Some analysis values are taken from the literature and others are obtained from exploration companies. Analysis has been done with different so-called analysis packages and methods, also different laboratories have been used over time. The rock chemistry data set contains location information, a brief description and chemical analyses of rock samples.
The amount of information about the samples, the sampling methodology, the method of analysis and sample preparation, the laboratory of analysis and the amount of elements analysed vary greatly.
A selection and a grouping of elements has been made to account separately for elements that are considered to be of particular interest in the exploration context, or with toxic properties for drinking water. All analysed elements and sampling points are also reported in a common warehouse.
