Pension gap for total pension according to marital status

Description

The graph below illustrates the pension gap of the total pensions of people who have recently taken their retirement pension by marital status. Here again, we examine the pension gaps in relation to the median total pension, which gives an idea of the unequal distribution of the total pension. Half of each population receives a total pension above the median, the other half a total pension below the median. In the graph below, the average total pension is broken down to show the average statutory pension and the average supplementary pension. We do this for each marital status and, of course, for men and women separately. It is immediately clear that the supplementary pension is each time a small part of the total pension. The graph illustrating the evolution of the total pension gap according to marital status reveals that the relative gap in the total pension of married people has decreased by 3 percentage points since 2019, a decrease similar to that observed in the general population.
