Naturally flooded areas

Description

Area-wide demarcation and differentiation of the naturally floodable areas in Flanders. The demarcation of the NOG has been equated to the total of alluvial soils, peatlands and polder soils as mapped on the soil map of Belgium in the period 1947-1973, published on a scale of 1:20,000. The nature of the flooding (from watercourses or from the sea) determines the differentiation. Demarcation and differentiation of NOG in areas that have not been mapped has been added on the basis of expert interpretation. Soils created by colluviation are also included in NOG stock.
