National Hydrological Instrumentarium (NHI) – network schematisation
Description
This dataset of the Dutch Hydrological Instrumentarium contains the nodes and links for groundwater and surface water models for the Netherlands on a national and regional scale. The national application is called the National Hydrological Model (LHM). The LHM is mainly focused on the water movement in medium and dry conditions and has been used in the Delta model and an operational national model for current drought. The NHI also focuses on regional analysis of the ground and surface water system through cooperation of, among others, water boards, drinking water companies and provinces. In the data the direction of the lower current node is reported. This does not mean that this is the only possible flow direction. Each branch has two characteristics: the capacity of the branch in the upper current direction and the capacity of the branch in the lower current direction.
