Soil map of the Netherlands, scale 1: 50 000, with peat mapping, version 2006
Description
The soil map of the Netherlands, scale 1: 50 000, provides spatial information about the soil structure up to a total depth of 1 meter. Groundwater Level Depth (WDM) provides information on the course of groundwater levels via the trajectory of the Average Highest Groundwater Level (GHG) and the Average Lowest Groundwater Level (GLG). Version 2006 differs from the previous version in that information about current events has been added to the map surfaces with peat soils in the vicinity of the eastern sandy soils. The information on these peat bogs has become available in the so-called peat mapping carried out on approximately 100 000 ha. For each map surface, it was checked whether there is still a peat soil.In this quick scan, the surfaces with outdated information were not re-carried. The soil information on the soil map relates to the nature and composition of the topsoil (soil type) with a further subdivision by soil formation, peat type, different layers in the profile, presence of lime and disturbances due to excavation and levelling.
The map is derived from various registration objects of the basic registration substrates (BRO).
