Methane background values in groundwater of Lower Saxony 1 : 500,000
Description
As part of a joint project (LBEG, BGR), background values for dissolved methane in the groundwater of Lower Saxony were determined for the hydrogeological subregions of Lower Saxony. The background values of dissolved methane include the levels that occur in groundwater under natural conditions. Methane in groundwater is mainly formed and degraded in situ by microorganisms. The map shows the color-differentiated methane background values (90% percentiles) of the different subspaces or subspace groups. Detailed information can be found in GeoReport 35.
