Description

Flood zones and riparian zones: Flood zones and riparian zones, established and demarcated in accordance with the Decree of 18 July 2003 on integrated water policy (published in the Belgian Official Gazette of 14 November 2003).Flood zones can be demarcated in order to plan the necessary space for water. Along waterways and non-navigable watercourses, riparian zones can also be demarcated, for example for the natural functioning of the water system or for nature conservation or for protection against erosion or against the influx of sediments, pesticides or fertilisers.
