Automatic cycling counting
Description
In Braunschweig, cycle traffic at several locations is recorded permanently and automatically throughout the year by means of counting loops in the ground. Currently, five counting systems are concealed. One is additionally equipped with a display (counting column) to display the cycling strengths transparently and in real time in the location. The detection is carried out by electromagnetic induction, in which the metal components of the bicycles are detected. The data provide information on, for example, daily and seasonal changes and differences in the volume of cycling and are used, inter alia, for the following purposes: Determination and assessment of the development of cycling traffic, conclusions on bicycle use and daily distribution , assessment of the impact of infrastructure/construction measures, motivation to use the bicycle and for research purposes
