Volunteering in the future!
Description
Operational organisations and their volunteers form the backbone of civil protection in Austria. Already today, demographic development and structural changes pose challenges for volunteering, which are further amplified by climate change. More frequent and severe extreme weather events lead to an increased threat to people, settlements, infrastructures and industrial areas. In order to successfully overcome these challenges, new strategies for volunteering, for public and private protection measures as well as for target group-oriented risk communication are crucial. In addition to climatic changes, economic and social effects were also taken into account for the development of sustainable measures.
