3D building models (LoD1 and LoD2)

Description

The 3D building model is a follow-up product from the ALKIS® building floor plans, the Digital Terrain Model (DGM) and the 3D measurement data. The 3D building model is available in two levels of detail: Level of Detail 1 (LoD1) and Level of Detail 2 (LoD2). For the 3D building model LoD1, the buildings are modelled as block models (flat roof). The Lower Saxony-wide production of the LoD1 building models has been completed since 2014 and has been available nationwide ever since. For the 3D building model LoD2, the buildings are modelled using standardised roof shapes such as saddle roofs or hipped roofs. The Lower Saxony-wide production of the LoD2 building models has been completed since 2019 and has been available nationwide ever since. Since 2019, the LoD1 has also been automatically derived from the LoD2 building models, for which the average of ridge and eave height is used as the building height. According to available capacities, automatic and manual corrections of the building stock have been carried out since 2019. The 3D building models are generated on the basis of ALKIS® (building floor plans), the DGM with 5m grid resolution (terrain height of the building) and the 3D measurement data (height points of the building roof from the laser scanning or matching point cloud). The position accuracy corresponds to the position accuracy of the underlying building floor plan. The height accuracy is mostly 5 m. Coarse deviations are possible with complex roof shapes. In addition to the location and body representation of the buildings, the LoD1 data includes a comprehensive number of attributes. These are specified by the Product and Quality Standard (PQS) of the Working Group of Surveying Administrations of the Länder of the Federal Republic of Germany (AdV).
