Health and safety of the population

Description

Population health and safety information product defines the geographical presence of diseases directly associated with the quality of the environment (e.g. air pollution, chemicals, ozone depletion, noise) or indirectly (e.g. food, genetically modified organisms) (e.g. allergies, cancers, respiratory diseases), data showing an impact on health (e.g. biological markers, reduced fertility, epidemics) or human well-being (e.g. fatigue, stress). The statistical and indicator bank of the National Institute for Health and Welfare, SOTKAnet, uses the statistical and indicator bank of the National Institute for Health and Welfare as the publication channel for the materials of the population’s health and safety data products. The service provides access to the information specified in the data product — Periods and days of treatment in hospitals and their average duration — Patients with outpatient treatment — Health expenditure — Perceived health — Body mass index — Smoking — Functional capacity — Long-term illnesses based on the rights of special reimbursable medicinal products — Causes of death by category of ICD-10 National statistics and registers on the health and well-being of the population maintained by the National Institute for Health and Welfare are the main source of information. Cancer data is maintained by the Finnish Cancer Association on behalf of the National Institute for Health and Welfare. Data as part of producers’ normal statistical production and its support activities.
