uncut low-traffic areas (UZVR) for LEP

Description

For Saxony, the uncut low-traffic areas (UZVR) were calculated for the first time using the method of the national indicator for landscape fragmentation (LIKI/UMK indicator 10) developed by the Länder Initiative Kernindikatoren (LIKI). The data were developed for the landscape programme and represent a balancing result. Therefore, they differ from the results of the LfULG study on landscape fragmentation (https://publikationen.sachsen.de/bdb/artikel/13820 ) presented in maps. Roads from a modelled traffic volume of 1000 vehicles/24 h (BAB, federal and state roads, district roads), double-track railway lines and single-track electrified, in operation, local locations and airports. In the case of roads and railway lines, tunnels from a length of 1000 m or more are considered to be an interruption ("dissection"). Included are all UZVR from a minimum size of 40 km2. The UZVR are available in the following size classes: 40 - 70 km2, 70 - 100 km2 and 100 km2. UZVR stands out for its particularly high value for species and biotope protection as well as landscape-related recreation. They meet at least one of the following criteria: UZVR size > 100 km2, UZVR with national park, nature park or biosphere reserve share, FFH share or SPA share > 20 percent, NSG share > 8 percent, LSG share > 70 percent or UZVR are rated with high or very high in terms of recreational suitability or the landscape. These UZVRs are set as targets in the 2013 LEP.
