ÖROK Monitoring Land take-up and sealing (2022)
Description
In order to record land use and sealing, a new model for calculation was developed by the Federal Government, the Länder, cities and municipalities and professionally coordinated. The results are significantly improved, robust data on land use for settlement and transport purposes, leisure and recreation, supply and disposal purposes, and sealing for the reference year 2022 (‘baseline’). This work is transferred to ongoing national monitoring, which is coordinated within the framework of the ÖROK and calculated by the Federal Environment Agency on behalf of the ÖROK. Existing land use and sealing as well as their future development are thus collected with an accuracy not yet available. All relevant and regularly updated public administrative data from the federal and state governments on land cover and land use are included and brought together through an integrative, spatially explicit approach. Overall surveys are carried out in a three-year cycle due to the update intervals of the data bases. Robust figures on trends and rates of change will be available for the first time at the end of 2025.
The GIS data of the area use are available as a VEKTOR file and the data of the sealing are available as a RASTER file with 1x1m2 resolution. The aim was the statistical evaluation, but not the creation of a cartographic or topologically clean product. Therefore, splinter polygons occur in the dataset due to the overlapping of the individual data sources.
The data are available as a ZIP file, broken down by administrative unit: Austria in total, 9 federal states, 95 districts.
